Born of an idea that began in 1988 by founder Christopher T. Davis that the number of highway fatalities could be reduced dramatically, Roadside Angels was founded in 2010 as the evolution of this vision to provide a forum by which the loved ones and friends of automobile accident victims can share their stories, stay connected, and assist in the healing process.

Inspired by the roadside memorials, or descansos (Spanish for "resting place"), it is the purpose of Roadside Angels to provide further compliment to each memorial that represents a human life tragically lost. The memorials leave a subtle but indelible mark on our awareness as we travel, sending a clear message to those of us who have no connection with the incident, perhaps other than the realization that "it could have been me" - while at the same time engendering a feeling of appreciation for the unknown people who took the time to create them.

Roadside Angels recognizes that each memorial represents a human life tragically lost. The crosses and roadside shrines raise the questions "How?" and "Why?" Sometimes the "How" seems readily apparent, other times not; but the "Why" is always the most compelling question: was drinking involved, were seat belts worn, and, most importantly - could the accident that took their lives have been prevented?

Roadside Angels examines the answers to those questions and more, so that each individual represented can live on, with the lessons of their lives helping others.
